UPDATE ON BACK TO SCHOOL PROJECT

Here is a little update on BACK TO SCHOOL PROJECT ..
Until now we have received about €3,000 .. awesome .. training hard to be able to run our marathon in Rotterdam. Everything is going well and already got enlisted to Rotterdam.
We are working on getting visa’s ready so we can fly to the Netherlands in April. Looking forward to meet up with all of you again.

FINALLY GOT REGISTERED 👍👌

Having major problems with getting registered for the Rotterdam Marathon. Probably tried at least 20x.

As you maybe know the planning is to run a marathon on April 16 to raise support for 100 kids. To run this Rotterdam marathon I have to register and pay a registration fee. When registration opened up, I was probably one of the first to register but NN Rotterdam Marathon had 1 issue .. their credit card payment portal didn’t work.
registeredThere were some other payment systems available that are being used in Europe, but since I am from the Philippines I cannot use any of those payment options.

After contacting the organizers about the problem I was facing with paying with my credit card .. after maybe 1-2 months going forth and back .. they did something and I was able to make a payment and get registered together with my wife for the Rotterdam Marathon. So happy it is done .. YIPPEE!!!

To my surprise by the time I was able to register there were only 3000 slots left .. 12,000 people already registered for the Rotterdam Marathon. It is amazing how fast that went.
So happy that finally I could register for the race. We are registered and training hard to run our marathon. Now we just have to find a few more sponsors 😊

10 KM FUN RUN



fun runToday we joined a 10 km fun run to see how we are doing with our training. We did a 10km race in the morning. The gun time was at 5:30am. Although the gun went off 10 minutes too early we had fun running the 10km. There were many people who joined the fun run.

fun runIt was really hot and humid. The humidity was almost 85% and temperature was around 27C at 5:30am. Not sure how warm it was during the race but it felt like 33C. Was already sweating even before I started.

My aim was to beat my PR time of 49:49 but unfortunately was not able to go faster. I was close but did not beat that time. My time was 49:58. However Abby did really great. She almost passed me. Her aim was to break her PR of 58 minutes and she did an awesome job. Abby was able to run a time of 55:39 minutes .. so a huge improvement. Amazing!! She was so happy. It was fun to join and be part of this 10 km fun run.

We have been running since 2018 and that is when we did our first race. The year 2020 and 2021 were very hard when it came to training because of the pandemic. However in 2022 we were able to start training again on a regular basis.
We hope that this running background will help you to give a little understanding where we come from.

Friday October 28

We went to track to do some speed work, but unfortunately it was closed due to rain. Ah so sad!! Was so looking forward to do some track work.

Saturday October 29

We had our weekly rest day and

We did our weekly long run that will help us to get ready for the marathon. Just before we did our run it started raining but we were lucky. No rain while running. I was able to do a 150 minute (2,5hours) run. During the long run I took some big hills in the training. So the run can be 1 big loop. I had 3 gu’s and 2 bottles of water. Running went great. The legs were not as tired as before. It looks like they are starting to get used to 2,5 hours running. YIPPEE!!

Monday October 31

Today we had a rest day. Recovering from the easy long run I did on Sunday. Although my legs felt fine. Tuesday we didn’t do our usual hill training. Instead we did a track training. November 6 we will have a race of 10km where we are going to try to break our PR. My PR for 10km is 49:49 minutes. Anything faster than that would be great. Abby’s PR for 10km is 58 minutes. Very curious how we both will do.

Tuesday November 01

Although track was closed again because of rain we did a TEMPO RUN instead on the concrete. I prefer not to do our speed races on concrete but we had no choice. We both did a 3 x 10 minutes tempo run. The training went well.

Wednesday November 02

The next day our legs felt a little beaten up because of training on concrete road, but after doing a hill easy run our legs started recovering. We did a 1 hour easy run. The legs felt good after finishing the training.

Thursday November 03

We did another speed training on the track. It was dry, so we were able to use the track. YIPPEE! .. I did an interval training of 5 x 1000m. The last few were tough but I was able to finish the training. The legs felt great after the training. Looking forward to our race on Sunday. Very curious to see how we have improved.

Thursday Hill Training

Thursday Hill TrainingToday it was time for our regular Thursday Hill Training. We normally run 75 minutes up and down the hills. This is to strengthen our legs and gluten.

Did an easy run today of 75 minutes at a pace of under 7min/km. My heart rate was around 141bpm. The purpose of this run is to help the legs with recovery, so tomorrow when we do track there are no problems.

No problems during the run and legs felt good after I finished my Thursday Hill Training. I was very thirsty when I got home. Had to drink about 1.5-2 liters before I felt like I had caught up with the water loss during the run. So it must be very hot or humid when I went for a run. It is amazing and image that we are running most of the time in the evening after we close our business.
